Eigen Haard
Eigen Haard was a popular magazine that appeared at the end of the 19th century. It is in Dutch, but it's nevertheless fascinating for those who have not mastered that language to look at the pictures of what are today common articles, but were then the latest inventions.
Its scope of interest was not limited to the Netherlands and its colonies; it dealt with the lives of politicians, scientists or musicians from all over the world. Disasters, remarkable habits of obscure tribes and articles on the causes of a number of diseases: nothing escaped the zeal of the editors to inform the public. Eigen Haard is also available as ePubs.
These and thousands of other images can be found in the collection.
